Over in the corner of the workshop, you'll find a bookshelf that is positively stuffed with books, sketchpads, file folders filled with photocopies, and other goodies. This is the MOCHI reference library. If you end up costuming for a while, you may find that you'll want to creat your own library as a place to look up a technique you haven't done in a while or finding a pattern that will be a launching pad for something special.

Building up your own library doesn't have to be a painful process. Repeat the following mantra: "Used bookstores are a good thing. Used bookstores are a good thing." While there have been great changes in the kinds of fabrics, adhesives, and other materials in the past twenty years, there are some things that will always stay the same. A running stitch is a running stitch is a running stitch. You can often pick up second-hand sewing guides, project books, and theater textbooks for a song.
