After a few anxious phone calls, we were able to get a hold of Spiky. Work was now in some odd state where it wasn't really done but there wasn't much more that they could do until there was a meeting. He was going to drive back out to Anime Iowa later that evening, pack up his stuff, sleep, and then skeedaddle early in the morning so he could make a Monday afternoon meeting.

We all agreed heartily that this sucked and that Spiky's company better give him a nice treat for having basically eaten his vacation.

[]Even though Sunday is usually a "slow" day at conventions, there were still things to see and do. As usual, Daifuku had to run through the dealers' room -- just in case there was something she missed the first seven or eight times she'd gone through. There were some interesting panels going on, like Toasted Mochi's discussion of J-POP (Japanese pop music) or the one on Japanese language.

Even for a small-ish convention like this one, it took us a while to find everyone that we wanted to say good-bye to. We never did findKevin Lillard: later, someone told us that he had to leave the convention early. Thankfully, we got to put off our good-byes to a number of people since we'd be having dinner with them later in the evening.

While most people were at the closing ceremonies, the rest of MOCHI met up at the video rooms to help with the breakdown. Other people stopped by to volunteer their help. In fact, we had more volunteers than we had work! In about two hours, all the wiring, speakers, projectors, etc. had been packed away. It was kind of sad, really, when everything had been dismantled.

Discussions of what to do after Sunday dinner were somewhat, er, limited.

Sugar Bomb: Do we want to go see a movie like we did last year? There's lots of stuff I haven't seen yet. Mabe Ghosts of Mars will be open ...
Daifuku: EEEEEEEEE! No scary movie!
Sugar Bomb: What about Rush Hour 2? Have people seen that?
Toasted: Seen it. Good, but not as good as the original. What about Shrek? I've heard really good things about that.
Sugar Bomb: Ooo -- that might be good. It all depends on when we get back, though. It might be good to just coccoon in the hotel.
Daifuku's eyes widen as a thought clicks in the back of her brain.
Daifuku: OooooooOOOOO. HOT TUB.
Sugar: Maybe. It probably won't be too busy tonight.
Daifuku: HOT TUB! HOT TUB!
Toasted: But I didn't bring any swimwear ....
Sugar Bomb and Toasted Mochi begin to wince as Daifuku's volume rises.
Daifuku: HOT TUB! HOT TUB! HOT TUB!
Sugar: *sighs* Maybe we should dump Daifuku off at the hot tub ....

Spiky Mochi did eventually make it back to Iowa -- but since Sugar Bomb Mochi was the only one to see him, the rest of MOCHI think that it was an illusion. The only proof that he might have been there was the disappearance of his toolboxes.
