[We're not always this messy. Honest!] Past con experience had taught us that the bigger the room, the better. This was especially true since we had more people than usual and a hefty set of armor to work on. What had looked like a pretty big room when we arrived soon took on a serious layer of clutter. But we made some interesting discoveries.

For instance, it's amazing how useful a four-poster bed can be. With the help of some hand towels, each post became a great place to hang wigs. The top of the armoire (that held the TV) was a handy place to store boxes, costume props, armor, and other things that you really didn't want to get stepped on!

Oh, and there was a great big tub, about twice as large as normal. Daifuku Mochi had pleasant visions of taking a nice hot bath, but alas, that was not to be ....

Part of the crew settled down to finishing work on the masquerade costumes. About half of the room (and most of the couch) was given over to sewing, painting, squishing of Sculpey, and other finishing touches. In fact, the part of MOCHI that were involved in the masquerade ended up being sucked into the room for most of the convention. Thankfully, Toasted Mochi and Angie more than made up for the "homebodys". They entered "Energizer Bunny" mode and tackled the convention in full force ....

[If you had a Miki and a Juri on each arm ....]Every year, there seems to be a set of costumes that are "the thing to do". A few years ago, you couldn't walk anywhere without running into a bevy of Shinjis, Misatos, and Reis from Neon Genesis Evangelion. This convention seem to be devoted to Utena. (This was no big surprise, since the guests of honor included Chiho Saito, Kunihiko Ikuhara, and Toshimichi Ohtsuki.) With all the Duelists and Rose Brides running about, we were surprised that there weren't more challenges being issued ....

MOCHI, of course, needed to be armed with it's own Utena. Just in case.
