Rang Rang

• From: Steam Detectives (TV + manga)
• Materials: Cotton (main dress, apron, hat), velour (neck tie, hat), netting (sleeves), steel gauge wire (ribbon), poster board, thermoplastic (Fantastic Plastic - "eggs"), garter belt, stockings.
• Design notes: Rang Rang's dress is a combination of two patterns: a historical pattern for the sleeves and a contemporary pattern for the remainder of the dress. The two patterns were modified to fit together during the sewing process. The apron is designed from the dress pattern's, while the apron bow, apron trailers, dress collar, dress sleeves, dress cuffs, and hat are all free design. The hat and the bow are huge on purpose, trying to make them look as much like Asamiya's design as possible.
• Construction notes: Netting is used in the upper sleeves to make them as full as possible. The plastic was sculpted for the eggs and are permanently attached to the apron. The wire in the netting makes the bow and trailers stick out -- yet fold up to facilitate travelling.
• Additional notes:The grey of Rang Rang's apron, hat, and shoes is assumed by some to be a trick of the light, but we used it to accentuate Ring Ring's purity and Rang Rang's -- er -- um -- "non-purity".
